Top 10 NBA Point Guards

Date Posted: 12 December 2010     95 Comments

Here are the Top 10 point guards in the NBA through October 26 through November 30, 2010. Rankings are based on a filter of nine categories: Points, Rebounds, Assists, Three-point shots made, Steals, Blocks, Turnovers, Field goal percentage, and Free-throw percentage. Rankings are taken from Give Me The Rock’s Player Rater.

About the author My name is Erik Ong and I've been writing about Fantasy Basketball since 2007. I'm currently one of the writers over at Give Me The Rock. Once a week, I'll be sharing some of my thoughts on the latest goings on in the NBA.

Hi I was wondering if I could apply as a contributing writer/sportswriter for BTV. I'm a fan of anything basketball: NBA, PBA, FIBA, UAAP. Currently, I write NBA articles and betting previews for betED.com and basketball-previews.com. Hope you can consider me for any available position I could be qualified for. Thanks! JC

i'm sorry to say MR. Ong but this lists really sucks!!!there are many writers in nba.com who even included rondo in the top 10 MVP rankings but you didn't even include him in this 10 best PG lists?!!do you think you're better than those writers in nba.com?!!well i don't think so...i think you even downgraded yourself for making such a very bad lists..

Here's my list 1-2 CP3/Rondo 3. Nash 4. D-Will 5. D-Rose I cannot choose my 6-10, but above are my elite NBA PGs.

Reply
Banjo December 23, 2010 07:21 AM

Are you watching NBA? I'm not a Rondo fan but how can you disregard him? Nakakadismaya naman ang mechanics nyang pagpili ng top 10, parang grade 1 lang namili ng kung sino matataas ang points, assists, FG %, etc.. I prefer Rajon behind CP3. Mr. Erik Ong, you should resign as a writer and be a garbage collector! And also, Nash not in the top 10?? Come on dude! The man is playing in 36! Oh, come on!

isang malaking kalokohan not to include rondo in this category...u dnt nid to be a shooter to be a great point guard sometimes...at isa pa, rondo is averaging 14 assists a game, yeah only 10 or mre points a game but still shoots more that 50%...he could do 20 if he just shoot more he usually does but that big assist numbers are more than enuf to add those points to the score...Arenas included?WTF...shooting just 39% this season...what a moron...

Reply
Kristian December 16, 2010 10:57 AM

Where's Tony Parker and Rajan Rondo?? Aren't those two point guards belong to the top Eastern and Western Team this season? And to add up.. the great Steve Nash and Jason Kidd. THIS LIST SUCKS!

My man, It's no debate that Deron's no. 2, even based on stats. If you put TOs on the line, Westbrook's just not there yet with taking care of the ball (3.4 TO) and his FG% is at 41%. Plus, Steph Curry hasn't played in as much games compared to last year and I would have him down a bit as compared to Rose who's been breaking out his MVP season type of performance with 3s and higher FG% We have to remove Monta and Arenas from the list because they're playing 2s in their teams. 1. CP3 2. Deron 3. Westbrook 4. Rose 5. Felton 6. Curry 7. Rondo 8. Nash/Kidd 9. Wall 10. Jennings Been playing fantasy since 2003, I believe I know my stuff.

I wonder why people STILL continue to insist that Chris Paul is better than Deron. Seriously, do people actually watch the games, or is everyone just in it for the hype? Only reason why Paul is always favored over Deron is...I don't know, I really don't. Anyway, Deron is having a first team all NBA type of showing through over the first quarter of the season; Paul is stuck in a rut.

This is the top 10 NBA points guards and not the real top 10 point guards (well maybe some of them) The role of a point guard is to facilitate the offense and has a pass-first mentality (cutting most from the list) This guards should include the likes of Nash, Rondo and others.
